Being born with inverted nipples (concave or flat nipples) is perfectly natural. Although the condition is painless, it can distort the aesthetic of the breasts, making them look asymmetrical. In rare cases, inverted nipples may subvert the breastfeeding process.
Nipple inversion is assessed based on the following scale:
At the time of your private Beverly Hills consultation, Dr. Lee will perform a physical exam and determine the best course of action for resolving your individual concerns with your nipples.
“Dr. Michelle Lee is an AMAZING plastic surgery doctor. I am so happy every day I wake up with a confident spirit now that I’ve found myself again. No words can describe how much I want to thank Dr. Michelle Lee. The best work. She’s helped to answer all my concerns and needs.”
If the nipples do not naturally protrude properly, they can be surgically or non-surgically enhanced to achieve a more conventional appearance. The non-surgical option uses dermal fillers to plump and augment the nipples. Another option is to reconstruct projected nipples using the patient’s own tissue, as is done with flaps during breast mound reconstruction in cancer patients.
While recovery is individual, most patients experience minimal downtime with nipple/areolar surgery. We recommend staying away from the pool or swimming for at least 3 weeks. Patient usually experience minimal downtime with this procedure.
